Gold Coast Moving Boxes is a one-person business run by Alex from Parkwood on the Gold Coast. This page explains what personal information I collect when you use gcmovingboxes.com.au or buy from me, why I collect it, and what I do with it. It is written in plain English on purpose.

I am a small business. Under the Privacy Act 1988 most small businesses are exempt from the Australian Privacy Principles, but I handle your information in line with them anyway, because it is the right way to treat people.
What I collect
When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, and — if you choose delivery — your delivery address. I also keep a record of what you ordered and when.
When you pay by card: I never see or store your card number. Card payments are processed by WooPayments, which runs on Stripe. Your card details go straight to them.
When you contact me: whatever you tell me in a call, text or email.
When you browse the site: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and how long you stay. This comes through Google Analytics and my web host’s logs.
I do not collect sensitive information, and I do not ask for anything I do not need to fill your order.
Why I collect it
- To take payment and send you an order confirmation
- To get your boxes to you, or have them ready for pickup
- To contact you if there is a problem with your order
- To keep records I am required to keep for tax purposes
- To understand which pages people find useful, so the site gets better
Who else sees it
I do not sell your information to anyone, ever. I do not send marketing emails unless you have specifically asked me to.
Your information passes through these services because the site could not run without them:
- WooPayments / Stripe — payment processing
- VentraIP — Australian web hosting, where the site and its database live
- Google Analytics — anonymous statistics about site usage
- Wordfence — security, which logs IP addresses to block attacks
I will also disclose information if the law requires it.
Cookies
The site uses cookies — small files stored by your browser. They do the following:
- Remember what is in your shopping cart between pages
- Keep you logged in if you have an account
- Collect anonymous usage statistics through Google Analytics
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block them, the shopping cart will stop working.
How long I keep it
Order records are kept for at least five years, because tax law requires it. Enquiries that do not turn into orders are deleted once they are no longer useful.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), sits behind a firewall, and is backed up. No system is perfect, but your card details are never stored on my site at all — that is handled entirely by the payment processor.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Call or text 0434 827 956, or email info@gcmovingboxes.com.au. I will respond within 30 days. There is no charge.
Note that I cannot delete records I am legally required to keep, such as completed orders.
If you are not happy
Contact me first and I will try to sort it out. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
